All-Energy Australia is the country’s largest clean energy event in Australia. This free-to-attend exhibition and conference takes place from 26-27 October 2022 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Gaia EnviroTech’s Executive General Manager Michael Renehan will present the benefits of a distributed approach in supplying renewable green gas to rural and regional Australia, during the Agriculture and Energy session on Wednesday, 26th October 1:40pm – 3:00pm.
The recent release of Australia’s Bioenergy Roadmap has highlighted the significant role that bioenergy systems can play in providing Australia with renewable green gas. Whilst there has been a keen focus on increasing the country’s supply of renewable power through the adoption of wind and solar, gas continues to be a primary fuel supply for industry, and is a major contributor of greenhouse gas emissions.
Michael will present on the benefits of a localised and distributed approach that utilises existing organic waste streams to generate renewable green gas for use in ‘behind the meter’ industrial applications. The approach of using a distributed system of small and mid-scale anaerobic digestion technology can provide local agricultural and food manufacturing businesses a viable option for off-setting their energy costs, whilst also reducing the costs associated with disposing or managing their organic waste streams.
This localised approach also provides opportunities for collaboration across communities in the establishment of ‘bioenergy hubs’ that can contribute to diversifying the renewable energy mix throughout regional and rural Australia throughout utilised the vast supply of organic material available.
